This trial aimed to examine the effects of automated reminders from personal digital assistant (PDA) devices on timely task completion

This trial aimed to examine the effects of automated reminders from personal digital assistant (PDA) devices on timely task completion.

Participants were aged between 18 and 66 years, had sustained a traumatic brain injury with subsequent memory impairment and were in an out-patient or community-based rehabilitation setting.

The study showed significantly higher task completion rates where automated reminders were used, suggesting that clinicians can make use of PDA devices to support rehabilitation after brain injury.

Interestingly, the study found statistically significant differences between the two types of PDA device used. This may indicate that selecting an appropriate device is especially important and further research is needed in this area.
