Once a year, Headway's members, friends and supporters come together to pay tribute to some very special people: brain injury survivors, carers, volunteers and campaigners whose personal achievements have earned the admiration of everyone around them. Their stories are moving and inspirational.

The Carer of the Year Award, sponsored by Barr Ellison Solicitors, celebrates the incredible dedication and devotion of those who care for people with a brain injury. Our finalists represent thousands of others across the UK who day-in, day-out demonstrate admirable determination to prove that there can be life after brain injury.

Three inspirational people have been nominated for the award:

Gwenda Gage

A mother from Bristol who has devoted the last 24 years of her life to care for her son after he sustained a life-changing brain injury has been shortlisted for a national award.

Trish Campini

A devoted pensioner who has cared for her son for more than 40 years after he sustained a traumatic brain injury has been shortlisted for a national award.

The winner will be announced at a glittering ceremony in The Dorchester Hotel, London, on Friday 7 December 2018, where awards for Carer of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and the Stephen McAleese Outstanding Contribution to Headway will also be made.
