Have your say on a new communication access symbol

Mon 26 Feb 2018

Headway is now part of the Communication Access Symbol UK Project, which is working to develop a new access symbol for people with communication difficulties, akin to the wheelchair, hearing and visual impairment symbols.

Communication disability affects millions of people in the UK, with many people experiencing some form of communication problems after brain injury.

The wheelchair symbol is one of the top 10 most recognised symbols in the world. The symbols for hearing and vision are also well known. Yet there is no universal symbol for communication access in the UK. We aim to have a symbol in the UK for communication access with underpinning standards which will become as widely recognised as these symbols.
