The Zero Project provides a platform to raise awareness of the most innovative and effective solutions to problems faced by people with disabilities. Based in Vienna, its objective is to assist in creating a world without barriers, based on the Articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Headway’s Justice Project and Brain Injury Identity Card was selected as an innovative and effective solution for brain injury survivors in the UK. We collected our award and delivered a presentation on the project at the Zero Project Conference, which ran from 20 – 22 February 2019.
"It is really an honour to get this award," said Headway Chief Executive Peter McCabe, speaking at the event.
"But it is even more important for us to know that survivors of a brain injury have their lives improved as a result of this project."

“I don't see the world the way that an average person does, and it makes me feel secure. Knowing that I carry the ID card and have a way to explain what most people see as unsettling, bad, or bizarre behaviour, is very reassuring.”
