Headway’s ABI Network is providing a virtual safe space for brain injury survivors and their carers in the Southern Trust area to come together to chat, ease feelings of isolation and enjoy a cuppa or coffee.
Pamela Bell, the charity’s Services Coordinator, is behind the launch of the virtual café. She said: “One of the main obstacles that individuals and families whose lives have been affected by brain injury have encountered has been social isolation.
“More than ever we have been impacted by this and it is vital that we remain connected with one another. This new virtual café programme will act as a catalyst in breaking down these social barriers.”
The virtual café sessions will take place once a month on Zoom, starting on Monday 29th June and are open to everyone affected by brain injury in the Southern Trust area.
Michelle Major, a motivational speaker with The Sunshine Project will be joining the first session to help uplift and inspire the group at this difficult time.
Pamela added: “These sessions will create an opportunity where people have a safe place to talk about anything and everything related to brain injury. They’ll be able to share ideas and experiences with others who have been affected by the devastating consequences of brain injury.”
