Once a year, Headway's members, friends and supporters come together to pay tribute to some very special people: brain injury survivors, carers, volunteers and campaigners whose personal achievements have earned the admiration of everyone around them. Their stories are moving and inspirational.

The Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by Anthony Gold Solicitors, recognises the incredible dedication of those who devote their time to volunteer for Headway. Our finalists represent thousands of others across the UK who day-in, day-out demonstrate admirable determination to prove that there can be life after brain injury.

Three inspirational people have been nominated for the award:

The finalists

Winner: Michael Condon

Richard Cardy

A volunteer from Ramsgate who lived with an undiagnosed brain injury for eight years and has been instrumental in supporting the activities at his local Headway charity.
