Headway extends best wishes to Princess Anne

Mon 24 Jun 2024

Headway – the brain injury association would like to extend its best wishes to The Princess Royal, who has been admitted to hospital following a concussion at her estate in Gloucestershire.

Buckingham Palace has said Princess Anne sustained minor injuries and concussion following an unspecified incident and is expected to make a ‘full and swift recovery.’

A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury that affects the functioning of the brain. Even though it’s classified as a mild TBI and is often short-term, the symptoms can be distressing and include trouble with memory, concentration, balance and headaches.  Many people make a good recovery from concussion after a few weeks, however, some people may have longer-term problems, referred to as post-concussion syndrome.

Headway – the brain injury association has kindly been supported by the royal family including by Princess Diana and, more recently, by the Duke of Sussex.

Headway is pleased to hear Princess Anne is recovering well, and our thoughts are with her and her family at this time.

For more information on this type of brain injury, you can find our mild head injury and concussion publication here.
