Headway News spring 2016

A change is as good as a rest, or so they say. Well, at Headway we don’t believe in resting when there’s so much work to do to improve life after brain injury. Instead, we have marked the start of what promises to be another busy year for the charity with a fresh new look and feel to our quarterly magazine.

The way in which we all communicate is changing. Social media now provides us all with the means to share information, views and experiences. With our Facebook, Twitter and HealthUnlocked communities thriving, we have included the thoughts of our supporters throughout the magazine.

This includes a poignant review of the new Will Smith film Concussion. Angus Swanson knows how impactful a head injury can be. His own injury, sustained during a rugby match while at university, left him in a coma.

With Concussion highlighting the short-term dangers of head injuries in sport, while addressing the long-term implications of repeated head trauma, we asked Angus to give us his opinion on the new Hollywood blockbuster.

There are many ways in which you can join Angus in contributing to Headway News. Commenting on articles posted on our social media platforms is one simple way to have your say. You can also email us at headwaynews@headway.org.uk.

We’ll also be announcing a host of new initiatives and projects on our website in the coming weeks and months – so do keep visiting www.headway.org.uk to see what we’re getting up to!
