"I’m not drunk....I have a brain injury"

Thu 20 Jul 2017

Former Royal Marine Tom Birch sustained a serious brain injury in 2006 while serving in Afghanistan.

The injury has left him with slurred speech, and as a result he finds getting served in bars difficult because staff think he's drunk. This has lead to the police getting involved.

To help promote the launch of Headway's new Brain Injury Identity Card, Tom spoke to BBC Radio 5Live’s Breakfast programme about the challenges faced by people with brain injury and why he thinks the ID card can help.

Listen to the full interview or watch a short video of Tom below.
