Headway supporter Marc Almond was honoured to be made an OBE by the Duke of Cambridge.

The Soft Cell front man was bestowed with the title at an official ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Friday 2nd March.

He received the accolade for his service to arts and culture and described it as 'one of the greatest moments of his life'.

Marc said: "We talked about Headway and Headspace which the Princes are very involved with and I told him (William) that the work he was doing was fantastic.

"They have brought the stigma around head trauma to the forefront and it's less of a taboo subject."

Marc sustained a head injury in a motorcycle accident in 2004. He was left struggling with memory problems and changes to his behaviour and personality. He spent two years relearning lost skills, including singing.

Since sustaining his head injury Marc has been a passionate supporter of Headway, and donated £1 from every ticket sold on his 2015 The Velvet Trail tour to support others who have been affected by brain injury.

He performed at Headway's WonderLAN Ball in November 2016 and attended the charity's prestigious annual awards ceremony at The Dorchester Hotel in December 2017.
